Guidance time question

I am drawing up a schedule for me to see the whole of our Year 11 cohort when we return. This term is the only term I have the chance, before GCSE prep really hits!

I know meetings are meant to be 45mins but with 88 students and just me, I was due to see them all in two weeks. Never going to happen! As this is their first ever meeting and I need them to do some prep beforehand (in their own time), complete a form, do Unifrog quizzes, can I take that as 15mins of the session and then do 30min 1:1's? Does that even make sense!

Help!

I think the key thing for me ahead of the meeting would be understanding their priorities - i.e. what do they want to get out of the meeting? That way you can tailor your resources and techniques to suit the topics that will help them most in the time that you have 🙂

Adviser or Advisor?

Are you an Adviser or an Advisor?

I’ve been looking at our marketing materials for next academic year and after years of preferring the ‘e’, I’ve gone through and changed everything over to ‘o’. It just feels more professional, but I’m not sure what has shifted in my mindset! Would be interested in what everyone else thinks.

Interestingly, our team job titles use ‘adviser’, just to clash with my spangly new marketing materials 😂

Thanks for this post. We've just been having the same discussion for my role title. Advisor it is!

UCAS Hub

I attended a short and sweet webinar yesterday led by the lovely Liz Lloyd at UCAS which was about embedding careers into the curriculum. She went through some resources on UCAS hub - there are so many! I want to share here :) https://www.ucas.com/advisers/help-and-training/guides-resources-and-training/tools-and-resources-to-help-you/your-guide-to-the-ucas-hub

Please vote in the poll below to share when the best virtual coffee slot for you is.

I've personally really enjoyed the Friday morning slot, so have left that on there as an option.

I'm hoping I can actually attend some of these during the next half term (at long last!)
