Meeting the needs of each pupil in relation to GBM8

When you consider this quote in relation to Gatsby Benchmark 8, what would look different about the way you offer appointments?

I have a student wanting to do a 2 week in Kenya medical trip with Projects Abroad, and am trying to find anyone who has used them either for their students or knows of someone who has done a trip with them, to ask some questions.
Anyone?
I haven't Sharon - sorry! I wonder if you could ask the company if they could put in you touch with other schools / families who have used them?
Hi All.
Sorry to post during the break, I'm switching back on after a strategy day today (I've even made our 2025/26 calendar!!).
This was raised on one of our Virtual Coffees the other week, I have since raised it to UCAS but thought it worth sharing here as well.
Bournemouth Uni are doing something called "priority clearing" - a new term for me. Basically, you can register before results day to be the first to hear about their clearing places + receive a call back from their team.
Part of me loves this but the other part is worried for the students who don't know this exists and will be at a disadvantage on results day.
What are your thoughts?
Does anyone know how to link more staff to the school UCAS account? Our careers lead has a UCAs account with the buzzword for applications. I’d now like access to this account so I can also see the applications etc. any idea how we do this?
Yep, easy 😀 From your Centre's UCAS Coordinator's dashboard, they just go to the 'Staff management' section and add you as a member of staff. They can then set the relevant permissions for you depending on your role and involvement in the process. For example if you are supporting with reference writing then you can have the ability to edit these, but you might not be responsible for approving and submitting applications.
Any more Qs on the Adviser Portal just shout!
The way that I work with my schools is that we don't pre-plan/triage allocated time, but offer further time if needed. Whether that is the next time I'm in school, or in the future (e.g. around March/April if interested in an apprenticeship). I've seen some students many times throughout KS4, (sometimes beginning in year 9), as they've needed that support. Others just once. Last week a Careers Lead booked a 2-hour slot for a student, and that was a good call, as they needed 2 hours (they'd had 1 hour the previous week). It is interesting - should the student and/or school be leading on the offer?
